Ridge height

The measurement taken from the ground to the highest point of the building.

This measurement is used in the PLU (local town planning), formerly the POS (ground use plan). This enables the height of buildings to be regulated in defined geographical areas. The height of a building is measured from the natural existing ground level. The height is measured up to the ridge of the building. If the natural ground is on a slope, the height will be measured from the lowest point.
