Modular structures and port layout

Francis Grimaud, Director of EVA, gives us his view on the use of Locabri modular structures.

EVA, Etablissement Vraquier de l'Atlantique, is a subsidiary of the port groups Sica Atlantique and Maritime Kuhn. It manages three terminals in the Port of La Rochelle.

EVA is a port operator, stevedore and stock manager and has 27,500 m² of covered storage space.

Ten years ago, a new market was to be set up in the Port of La Rochelle.

The specification was to store raw materials for animal food and to keep them clean and in good condition.

To meet this new customer, Sica Atlantique and Martime Khun joined forces and created the company EVA. EVA was looking for a solution to quickly install additional covered square metres in the Port La Pallice-La Rochelle.

Initial discussions were held with Locabri in order to find a solution that was both economical and reliable over time. EVA's objective was to deploy a solution very quickly and to be able to reuse the buildings once the contract was awarded.

Modular buildings were chosen because they can be moved from one site to another and also because of the speed of deployment, which appealed to the interviewers.
