Case study: Laboratory Aguettant Logistics Platform

Since 1880, the Lyon family Aguettant has been a health service provider, specialising in injectable drugs. Today Aguettant Laboratory exports its products to more than 60 countries.

In 2017, 500 people were working and engaged in the health service at three sites:

  • Gerland - Lyon - Headquarters and production
  • Ardèche - Production site
  • Saint-Fons - Rhône - Logistics platform.

This platform comprised 11,000 m² of temperature-oriented storage. It was handling about 400 to 500 pallets a day, or 70 tons of goods. This large-scale arrangement was conducted in strict compliance with current regulations in the field of pharmaceuticals: the BPD [Good Distribution Practices].

These medicinal solutions were stored partly on pallets. The warehouse had an ATEX zone and was under ICPE regulation. For this reason, the choice was made to remove the pallets from the main storage space.

Since the investment in traditional construction was too restrictive both at the regulatory and financial levels, a temporary solution was chosen. Locabri's modular solutions had already been used in the past, during certain periods of work. The previous uses had been successive, so Locabri was consulted to provide a simple and evolutive solution.

An industrial tent of 200 m² with open gables was installed on the logistics site. This space, designed to accommodate empty pallets and shelter them from bad weather, was rented.
"The pallet awning" has been in service for several months, and the handling teams have become accustomed to filling the pallets outside under the tent, to package the goods afterwards for shipping.
