Carbone Savoie is a manufacturer of cathodic products for aluminium electrolysis cells. The Aigueblanche site in the Savoie region of France manufactures carbon and graphite-based products.

But the strong winds did not spare France in 2018. Carbone Savoie was one of the first companies to bear the brunt. In January 2018, their production site in Notre-Dame-de-Briançon was hit by a storm. The result ? Major damage to the roof of their 2,400m² storage building. There was no other solution : part of the roof had to be redone.

But that's no problem! The Carbone Savoie teams, led by Mr. Nantet - project manager in the engineering department - decided to take advantage of this to renovate the rest of the building.

Ensuring the protection of products

The priority for the Carbone Savoie teams? To ensure that their products were sufficiently protected to avoid temperature variations. Indeed, the weather also has a major influence on the choice of storage solutions. Do you need to keep your products at the right temperature? We can add air conditioning or heating to our temporary storage facilities.

This is why Carbone Savoie decided to take its products out of the building and store them in a modular structure.

This solution not only protects the products from temperature fluctuations, but also from the inconvenience of the work.

Study the different solutions

In their case, the Carbone Savoie teams did not consider any solutions other than those of Locabri. We asked them why. They replied that they were short of time. Indeed, given the duration of the work, the use of a modular structure guaranteed them a quick installation at a lower cost. The RFX storage facility was ideal for this.

In addition, Locabri's modular structures - both RFX and non-RFX models - could meet the company's requirements in terms of size. The structures had to be at least 4.50 m wide between the posts in order to be able to store the products, but also to be able to move around easily with the machines.

The Carbone Savoie teams have known about Locabri for a long time. They were already using these solutions at their site in Vénissieux. They therefore trusted us to propose the most suitable warehouse model.

Setting up the structure

Are you wondering how long it takes to install a modular structure? In the case of Carbone Savoie, the Locabri teams installed the structure within a day. They obviously adapted to the safety regulations imposed on the site.

The reactions of the Carbone Savoie teams have been positive: as they regularly experience the lack of sheltered storage, this has changed their daily lives. Even if the operators in charge of storage do not stay under the structure for long, when they do, it is still pleasant. This has enabled them to live through a period of work comfortably, without constraints and at a lower cost.
