Carbone Savoie is a manufacturer of cathodic products for electrolysis of aluminium tanks. Their site situated in the Alps manufactures products made from carbon and graphite.
However, violent winds did not spare France in 2018. Carbone Savoie is one of the first companies to bear the consequences of it. In January 2018, the production site of Notre-Dame-de-Briançon, faced a storm. Consequences? Huge damages on the covering of their 2400m² storage warehouse. The only solution was to redo a part of the covering.
Carbone Savoie teams, led by M.Nantet-project manager in the engineering department- decided to take advantage of it to renovate the rest of the building.
Guarantee the protection of products
The priorities for the Carbone Savoie teams? Making sure that the products were sufficiently protected to not suffer from the temperatures variations.
Indeed, the weather plays a big part in the choices of storage solutions. You must keep your products in temperature? We can add air conditioning or heating in your temporary storage warehouse.
That is why Carbone Savoie decided to take out its products from the building in constructions and store them under a modular building.
Study the different solutions
In their case, the Carbone Savoie teams did not study other solution a part from Locabri’s one. In fact, given the duration of the work, the use of a modular structure guaranteed them a quick installation inexpensively. The RFX storage warehouse was ideal for that.
Moreover, Locabri modular buildings-whether it would be the RFX range or not- could answer to the company’s requirements in terms of dimensions. The structures had to be of a minimum of 4.5m of width between poles so that they could store products, but also to move along easily between the machines.
The Carbone Savoie teams knew Locabri for a long time. They already used these solutions on the Vénissieux site. Therefore, they trusted us to propose the most adapted storage warehouse model.
Install the building
You are wondering how long you have to plan for the installation of a modular building. In the Carbone Savoie case, the Locabri teams installed the structure in a day. Obviously, they adapted to the applicable safety rules on their site.
The Carbone Savoie teams’ reactions were really positive : they were living with a lack of sheltered storage, and it changed their day to day life. Even if the operators working on storage do not stay long behind the structure, they have a better work experience with it.
